Dress Code

Bedale Golf Club has a flexible dress code aimed at providing a relaxing, casual atmosphere for both members and visitors on the course and in the clubhouse.

On-Course Dress Code

What is acceptable

  • All proprietary golf-wear produced specifically for the purpose of playing golf and leisure wear that is also appropriate for playing golf
  • Shirts should preferably be tucked into trousers, shorts or skirts/scorts
  • Footwear specifically designed for playing golf
  • In shoe, ankle or knee length sports socks
  • Smart tailored shorts with integral  pockets
  • Smart tailored trousers
  • Non-golf shirts with collar and sleeves
  • Head wear worn as it is designed to be worn

What is not acceptable

  • T-shirts, Vests, blue denim clothing, track- suits, football shirts and shorts, rugby shirts and shorts or beachwear
  • Trainers
  • Golf shoes without socks
  • Normal everyday dress socks unless wearing long trousers
  • Cargo/combat trousers/shorts and trousers with drawstring waist or legs
  • Trousers of any description tucked into socks (except Plus-4’s & Plus-2’s)
  • Non-golf shirts without collar or sleeves (applies to men only)
  • Non-golf shirts without collar (applies to ladies only)

Clubhouse Dress Code

What is acceptable

  • Smart casual or formal wear including blue denim
  • All proprietary golf-wear produced specifically for the purpose of playing golf
  • Clean smart footwear, with or without socks
  • Smart tee shirts for children under 11

What is not acceptable

  • Golf shoes of any description
  • Not wearing any footwear
  • Flip-flops and any form of plastic or rubber beach or garden shoes
  • Cargo/combat trousers/shorts and trousers with drawstring waist or legs
  • T shirts (over 11 years of age), vests, track-suits, football or rugby shirts and shorts, beach-wear
  • Non-golf shirts without collar of any description (men only)
  • Soiled or torn clothing
  • Hats of any description
  • Wet gear or waterproofs if wet or soiled

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones can be used for voice calls in all areas of the clubhouse with the strict exception of the lounge and restaurant. Phones can be used for non-voice calls (texting emails etc.) anywhere. On the course the use of phones is for real emergencies only. Members and visitors are reminded when using mobile phones in permitted areas to be mindful of other club users.
